Since 1959, AFS Australia has provided life changing experiences for thousands of people to embark on intercultural programs for a few weeks to a year. Each year AFS also makes it possible for Australians to welcome and experience the friendship of hundreds of students and adults from over 40 countries around the world as host families. AFS Australia is registered as a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee and a charitable organisation in New South Wales. AFS Australia is part of a network of 54 partner countries across the world providing intercultural learning opportunities for over 50 years globally. Lattitude Global Volunteering (formerly known as Gap Activity Projects) is an international youth volunteering organisation. We enable up to 650 young Australians aged between 17 and 25 to undertake a diverse range of international volunteer placements each year in countries as varied as Poland, China, Brazil and Tanzania. Placements typically last six to 11 months and provide the volunteer with the opportunity to gain a unique experience, independence, personal and professional development whilst making a practical contribution within a new community in the field of education, community support or conservation. Lattitude will continue to offer the same structured experience for every volunteer and their family which includes an Interview (face-to-face or by phone), pre-departure briefing & support, food & accommodation while at placement, in-country support and access to a 24/7 emergency hotline. Tabor College offers courses in Theology, Counselling and Ministry. Gap Year program called Year in the Son. Youthworks offers Christian school-leavers a structured gap year program to help them grow in their faith and maturity of character; develop their gifts and skills in a supportive community of peers; learn more about themselves, God and the world around them; and serve others in ministry placements during the week as well as special ministry projects throughout the year. The program includes a month-long short term mission to Fiji where the students stay in the homes of Fijian families, participate in hands-on community projects and work with the local churches to present the Fijian Youth Leadership Conference. Various other evangelistic and social experiences throughout the year are aimed at extending each student and helping them develop confidence, maturity and servant-heartedness.
